She is also a successful television actress of Tamil – Chikkamma and Valli are popular ones. She is the daughter of popular actress of yesterdays, Sumithra who has worked for both Malayalam and Tamil movies. Her father Rajendra Babu is a commercial director in Kannada films.

Her younger sister, Nakshatra, has made her debut with the film Doo in 2011.

 

Uma debut Malayalam in the year 2000 with Dileep’s comic flick – Kuberan.
